Originality, Distinction & Differentiation

Words become clichéd when filled with empty meanings. Semantics is important but more so is the action that makes meaning.

As American Idol contestants are finding out these days, singing songs of and being compared to established original artists is a monumental challenge.

Classically trained artists have always performed works that are etched in stone so to speak. One cannot change Mozart’s music or Shakespeare’s words. Yet, true artists emerge as originals by taking ownership of interpretation with crystal clarity and honest conviction. That earns distinction without which pursuit of differentiation is a fruitless exercise.

The Makings of an Original

Put in an honest day’s work every day, take chances, stay humble, and your work will find recognition.
